Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light. ~ Norman B. Rice
This morning I woke up to a wonderful message on Facebook from a dear friend of mine from High School. His message started out with, “I’ve always meant to tell you how refreshing it is hearing your faith filled comments. I’m sure it makes a difference in other people’s lives…even if they don’t tell you directly.”
Can I tell you right now what an uplifting message that was and how happy that made me. Let’s just say it put a huge smile on my face.
What this friend didn’t know is this was a confirmation that I needed.
You see, I use to work for a wonderful program called Pure Energy that gave us the opportunity to instill a positive message into the lives of thousands of teenagers. We had 5 days with these teens and at the end of the program they would tell us how much the program meant to them and what they planned on doing with their lives.
Working for this program gave me such joy and it has been one of very few times in my life that I truly felt like I was making a difference in someone’s life. I was telling my husband the other day that I just felt like I sit on this computer 12-14 hours a day and am not making a difference in our families life or others. Of course he gently pointed out my “Thoughts for this Day” and asked if I could not see God using that to touch people’s lives?
As I sit here and write this post I keep thinking, really what does it matter if I never know whose life I have touched? If I continue to live my life for God being the same person online that I am offline and if that touches just ONE life and I never know it, isn’t that enough?
My hearts desire is to do the will of my heavenly father and if I do everything unto him then it shouldn’t matter if I ever know the lives I have touched.
However, we are human and when someone gives us positive feedback it makes us feel good and it just might be an answer to prayer or a confirmation!
How many people in your life have made an impact on you that you never told?
How many people in your life passed away before you could tell them how important they truly were to you?
How many people in your life are battling depression and just need a positive, uplifting word from you to let them know how much you love them and appreciate them?
Here’s a Challenge to you for the next 7 days:
Contact one person a day, through a phone call, email, Facebook, Twitter or whatever way you can and let them know how they have impacted your life. There are people we always “mean” to contact and tell them something but we never get around to it. Let this next week be the week you bring a smile to someone’s face.
My prayer for you today is that God would lead you to the people that need to know they are loved and appreciated. That as you sow kind words into others lives, you would reap kind words back and that you would know how much you are loved and appreciated also.
Be Blessed,
Audrey
